You will need;
Microsoft Excel. I have built this using Microsoft Excel 2003 and this is untested in any other versions.
FM Genie Scout 2009. Download from http://genie.fm
—————————————
INSTRUCTIONS FOR GENIE
Once you have downloaded Genie copy the “ConverterbyStevenMcCutcheon.glf” file in to your Layouts folder in the Genie folder.
Open Genie
Load Game (Your saved game from FM09)
Wait till game has loaded.
Click on “Layouts” and select “ConverterbyStevenMcCutcheon”, Check that the last column is now “Unique ID”.
Open Shortlist -> Open Chelsea.slf. A shortlist of the current Chelsea squad will appear.
Click File -> Export -> Name your file “Chelsea” and make sure the file type is .csv
This has created a .csv file of Chelsea’s squad and information from Football Manager 09.
You can create your own shortlists for any team using Genie by searching the player you want on the shortlist and clicking Add Player.
Never make a shortlist of more than 32 players as this will lead to problems later on with the converter.
An already exported Chelsea.csv file has been included in this download for you to compare to.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONVERTER 4.0
Open PES CONVERTER 4.0 in Excel.
—————————————
We will use Chelsea as an example;
On the FOOTBALLSQUADS.COM tab you will see the page is blank by default.
Select Cell A1, Go to “Data” -> “Import External Data” -> “Edit Query” … A small web browser will appear.
Navigate to Chelsea’s page on http://www.footballsquads.com.
Click the yellow box containing a black arrow that is to the left of “NumberName”. This will highlight the player data. Click Import.
Chelsea’s squad and details should now be in place.
To avoid problems later, highlight Cells A46:I49 in this example and select Clear Contents. This will get rid of the Players no longer at the club.
—————————————
Click the GENIE IMPORT Tab.
Now open your Chelsea.csv file
Select All on the Chelsea.csv workbook. This will select all the player data.
Select Copy
Go back to PES CONVERTER 3.0 workbook and on the GENIE IMPORT worksheet select Cell A1. Select Paste to paste Chelsea’s data in to the Converter.
You can now close the Chelsea.csv workbook
You will see the majority of squad numbers have been assigned automatically. Those that haven’t been auto-assigned by the converter will need to be inputted
manually. Use the data in the top section to assign the correct Squad number to the player. In this example Ivanovic and Mikel require a manual
input.

Potential Errors
It is not possible to do players from 2 different teams at the same time as the FM file must match the footballsquads.com page to work correctly.
If a team (i.e. some Dutch teams) do not have squad numbers you will have to manually assign your own numbers to BOTH footballsquads.com and on the HOME tab. Make sure they match!!!
Varying versions of Excel may not work exactly as has been described here. If you have a different version it would help everyone if you could write instructions for the version
of Excel that you use.
